In addition to serving as Co-Lead Counsel in the above-described In re StarLink Corn Prods. Liab. Litig., Seeger Weiss is prosecuting actions against several of the largest industrial hog and poultry farm operators.  These cases were brought on behalf of owners of property or residents of the vicinity of those operators’ hog and poultry farms and processing plants, who have been affected by toxins and other pollutants contained in the enormous quantities of hog and poultry feces and other wastes discharged by the defendants.  Mr. Weiss recently served as co-lead trial counsel in one such noteworthy case.  Following a three-week trial, a state jury in Jackson County, Missouri, returned a $4.5 million verdict against Premium Standard Farms, Inc. and ContiGroup Companies, Inc. in favor of six neighbors of the defendants’ vast hog farm operations in northern Missouri.  The firm continues to represent over 250 other claimants, many of them farmers themselves, against these defendants, many of them farmers themselves.  In addition, Seeger Weiss has been appointed to lead or co-lead high-profile commercial and securities fraud suits throughout the United States.
