Ralph E. Chapman, a member of Plaintiffs’ Executive
Committee, founded Chapman, Lewis, & Swan in 1990 and has
since grown the firm to its present size of nine attorneys.
In addition, the firm has expanded with offices in
Clarksdale and Madison, Mississippi. The firm has a
litigation practice with an emphasis on personal injury and
wrongful death litigation representing the interests of
individuals and families who have suffered injury. The firm
also handles a significant number of cases concerning
products liability, medical negligence, aviation litigation,
agricultural litigation, as well as complex litigation.
Mr. Chapman has extensive trial experience in the state
courts of Mississippi, U.S. District Court for the Northern
and Southern Districts of Mississippi, U.S. District Court
for the Northern District of New York, U.S. District Court
for the Western District of Tennessee, U.S. District Court
for the Eastern District of Arkansas, U.S. District Court
for the Northern District of California, U.S. Court of
Appeals, Fifth Circuit, Sixth Circuit, U.S. Court of Federal
Claims, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Chapman graduated from the University of Mississippi Law
School in 1974 and is a past member of the Mississippi
Judicial Nominating Committee, as well as a past member of
the Mississippi Bar Solicitation Committee. He has
maintained an AV Martindale-Hubbell rating since 1984 and is
listed as a member of the “International Network of Boutique
Law Firms” as well as being listed in “Best Lawyers in
America” and “Mid-South Super Lawyers" both of which are
peer reviewed publications. Mr. Chapman is also a member of
the Coahoma County and American Bar Association, the
Mississippi State Bar, a member of the Mississippi Trial
Lawyers Association (Member, Board of Governors), The
Association of Trial Lawyers of America (Sustaining member),
American Board of Trial Advocates, Civil Justice Foundation,
National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the
Million Dollar Advocates Forum (Captain, USAR).
